Mechanism of Action

Florasulam belongs to the group of inhibitors of acetolactate synthase (ALS) and has a systemic effect. After treatment, it quickly penetrates the plant through the leaves and roots, moves along the leading beams (phloem, xylem) to the point of growth. The action of the preparation is to suppress the acetolactate synthase enzyme, which in turn blocks the formation of valine (amino isovaleric acid), isoleucine and leucine. Hereinafter (within 3 hours after application), the cell division ceases and the sensitive weeds are growing.

catchweed bedstraw (Galium aparine) (up to 14 rings), common sow-thistle (Sonchus oleraceus), sow-thistle yellow, amaranth (species), buckwheat (species), small-flower galinsoga (Galinsoga parviflora), Canada fleabane (Erigeron canadensis), chamomile (species), mustard (Sinapis), bitter winter cress (Barbarea vulgaris), rape (dead beans), poppy (Papaver L.) (species), blindweed (Capsella bursa pastoris), bluebottle common centaury (Centaurea cyanus), tansy mustard (Descurainia sophia), common calendula, wild radish (Raphanus raphanistrum), field pennycress (Thlaspi arvense), pigweed (Chenopodium album) (sprouting - 2 leaves).

Middle-sensitive weeds:

Rose mallow (Hibiscus trionum), Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum), white campion (Melandrium album), door-weed (Polygonum aviculare), common hemp nettle (Galeopsis tetrahit L.), Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense) (seeds sprouting), white deadly amplexicaul and purple, common fumitory (Fumaria officinalis), field violet (Viola arvensis), chickweed satin flower (common chickweed) (Stellaria media), vetch (Vicia) (species), pigweed (Chenopodium album) (2 - 4 leaves), field vetch (Vicia).

Low--sensitive weeds:

veronica (species), buttercup (species), milkweed (Euphorbia) (species), field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis), black nightshade (Solanum nigrum) and others. The preparation is not applicable for cereal weeds.

Preparation Properties

Visible symptoms of the herbicidal action (growth cessation, chlorosis, necrosis, bleeding of the tops, redness of the leaves) appear in 4-7 day, and weeds will completely die out in 14-28 days after the preparation has been applied. After treatment the weed sensitive to florasulam cease to grow, then a growth point and the whole plant dies out. The low-sensitive and overgrown weeds may not perish, however, their growth and further development significantly slows down or ceases.
