A post-emergence systemic herbicide for controlling a wide range of annual broadleaf and grass weeds in corn crops.
The active ingredient of the herbicide Paldis belongs to the triketone chemical class and directly affects the carotenoid layer, disrupting photosynthesis; the weeds become discoloured and die quickly. Two days are needed to halt weed development; after 5 days the typical signs of the herbicide's action appear β whitening β and after 14 days β complete death. The herbicide's speed of action also depends on light intensity. On overcast days the action is slower. But complete death is ultimately achieved (only over a longer period).
